Dear Class of 2020 and Parents,
I pray this message finds you and your family well. We have made some changes to our original plan for our upcoming Class of 2020 celebrations and this note will provide you with the most up-to-date information. All Diocese of Phoenix parishes must remain below 25% of their overall capacity. We have made some adjustments to our Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony to observe the 25% capacity expectation at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
The Sacred Mass is the summit and source of Christian life and for this reason it is important for us to provide an opportunity for the Class of 2020 to gather for Mass as one group. In addition, one of our foundational beliefs as a Catholic school is that the parents are the primary educators. For this reason, it is equally important to find a way for parents to be present for the graduation of their sons and daughters.
Our Baccalaureate Mass will be on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 6pm and only the graduates and administrators will be present. Our Graduation Ceremony will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 and we will split the class into two groups and only the graduate and his or her parents/guardians will be in attendance along with the school’s administration. Class of 2020 members with last names from Accurso to J. Martinez will have their ceremony at 5pm and last names L. Martinez to Zadel will have their ceremony at 7pm. All other family and friends will be invited to watch the Mass and ceremonies live via the school’s Youtube Channel. A professional photographer will take photographs of our Class of 2020 events, including the conferral of diplomas. Additionally, a videographer will record all the events.
Please note that participation for these events is not mandatory. Class of 2020 members who wish to participate must let us know by completing this Google Form. Only two guests per graduate will be allowed to attend the Graduation Ceremony and additional guests will not be allowed.
All attendees must agree to the following non-negotiable terms:
- Absolutely no attendees may attend if diagnosed with and recovering from COVID-19, experiencing symptoms, or have been directly exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 prior to the 14 day incubation period.
- All attendees must wear a mask or cloth face covering. Graduates will be allowed to remove their mask if they wish when they receive their diploma.
- All attendees must practice physical distancing before, prior, and after the mass and ceremony. This includes the parking lot and gathering areas outside the church. Seton personnel will be monitoring throughout the event to make sure this is followed.
- Graduates must wear their gowns and stoles for the Mass, but no caps. Graduates must wear their gowns, caps, tassels and stoles for the graduation ceremony.
Sincerely,

Dear Seton Catholic Class of 2020 and Parents,
Let me be the first to congratulate you on finishing your final semester at Seton! We are proud of your accomplishment! We were hoping and praying that things might change so that we could host the end of the year events for you and your families. However, due to the spike in COVID-19 cases throughout the state in the last week, we are unable to safely host the prom, senior picnic and senior brunch. We are all very disappointed and I know this is not the news we had hoped for, but your health and safety comes first. Please know that our focus continues to be on our baccalaureate mass and graduation ceremony scheduled for June 30, 2020. Please also know that we might have to limit the number of attendees to conform with acceptable distancing practices in the church. Additional information will go out as it becomes available.
Sincerely,
Mr. Serna
